Salten, Felix (Zalzmann, Felix)
(1869-1945)
   Austrian novelist and critic. He was born in Budapest. He lived in Vienna, where he was a contributor to the Neue Freie Presse. He also wrote plays, essays and stories, including the famous children's story Bambi. His Jewish interests are reflected in his novel Simson, and in essays about his visit to Palestine. In 1938 he settled in Hollywood, but after World War II returned to Europe to live in Zurich.
